A lovely mapcard showing typical Lithuanian landscape in autumn. Lithuania is a country in Northern Europe, the lagest of the three Baltic states. It is situated alond the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea.It has an estimated population of 3.2 million as of 2011. The Lithuanians are a Baltic people, and the official language, Lithuanian is one of only two living laguages (together with Latvian) in the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family. Did you know that in 14th century Lithuania was the biggest country in Europe: it concluded present territories of Belarus and Ukraine, part of Poland and part of Russia? Another interesting fact about Lithuania I didn't know - Lithuania was the last country in Europe to become Christian in 1387. In 1989 Lithuania organized a unique protest. Residents of Lithuania, Latvia and Estona formed 600 kn long row of people holding hands in order to show the world that Baltic states want to be independent.
Thank you so much Vidmantas!
